A Message from the Chief Human Resources Officer

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to JSU, a vibrant and engaged community that is committed to excellence in every way. The Department of Human Resources is here to offer support in navigating the valuable resources available to you so that you may be well equipped to serve our students, faculty, staff, and external constituents. In addition, the staff members of your area will also provide training and assistance as needed. You are encouraged to become fully engaged in the JSU experience so that you may excel professionally and personally.

New Employee Checklist

Sign-on Process

The Sign-On Process includes forms used to initiate the onboarding of new employees at JSU. External applicants who are selected as finalists in the interview process will be asked to complete an electronic Sign-On package. *Notifications are sent to the email provided in the candidate's careers.jsu.edu profile.

The Sign-On packet should be completed prior to employment in order to expedite the on-boarding process. Pursuant to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, all new employees are required to complete and submit the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9), within the first three (3) days of employment.

Upon submission of the completed Sign-On forms, the new employee will be provided with an employee ID number, which will enable access to JSU mail, university systems and other resources. 

If you are a non-resident alien, you may be required to provide additional documents as part of the Sign-On Process. 

Remote Sign-On Process

New hires who are unable to complete the Sign-On process and present documents in person may complete the process remotely. Instructions are as follows:

  1. Print the following forms provided to you in your offer:
    • Loyalty Oath
    • Form I-9
    • W-4
  2. Find a notary in your area.
  3. The notary will sign and stamp the Loyalty Oath.
  4. The notary will act as a representative of the university and sign the Form I-9. This document does not require a notary stamp.
  5. The notary will make copies of the front and back of the forms of identification you decide to use. The notary will sign and stamp these copies.
  6. Due to the classified nature of these documents please do not email or fax this information. Mail all forms to:

New Employee Orientation

Welcome to the “Friendliest Campus in the South”

As a new member of the JSU family, you will attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) within your first two weeks of employment.

NEO is designed to give you the necessary tools and resources for your career journey at JSU. Our goal is to help you understand JSU’s vision, mission, and values, as well as the benefits and opportunities associated with employment at the university.

Additional information regarding the date and time of NEO will be sent to you via email once you are registered. In order to make the most out of orientation day, we strongly encourage you to review the New Employee Resources below and come prepared with your questions.

Parking

All vehicles parked at the university must be registered with the University Police Department. You are encouraged to review the JSU Parking Rules & Regulations, schedules, and hours of operations on the UPD website.

Important Notes
  1. Decals must be permanently affixed inside the front windshield, at the passenger side lower corner using the decal's self-adhesive. Decals must be visible at all times.
  2. Updated regulations and guidelines can be viewed online (http://www.jsu.edu/police/traffic.html).
  3. A parking map is available online ( http://www.jsu.edu/campus/parking.html).

Key Request

The Capital Planning & Facilities Department is responsible for key distribution, electronic locks, and controlled access. To request a physical key, visit the Facilities website.

System Access Request

Access to JSU systems depends on your role within the university. Your supervisor will need to complete an Access Request Form requested the needed systems.
