The Talent Acquisition (TA) team is dedicated to the recruitment of talented candidates to fill vacancies across the campus.  A variety of tools and resources are available to assist with adhering to best practices and navigating the hiring process. Talent Acquisition team supports and collaborates with departments to initiate, navigate, and successfully complete the hiring process. Nepotism

JSU is a vibrant, student-centered public teaching university with a  diverse faculty and staff. We strive to hire top notch employees to serve  and support our students, which means on occasion, a family member or any other related individual may be considered for a position at the university.

Relationship to another employee of the university shall not constitute a bar to hiring or internal movement (promotions, demotions, laterals, reclassifications) as long as an employee will not be under the direct or indirect supervision of a related individual.

The intent of reviewing hiring decisions is to ensure that no preferential treatment will be afforded to individuals based on relationships that may place undue or inappropriate influence on terms and conditions of employment as a result of the hire.  It is important to note that JSU has an expanded definition of a relationship as outlined in the Nepotism Disclosure Policy.

The university retains the right to refuse to appoint a person to a position in the same division, school, department, or facility, whereby their relationship to another employee can create an adverse impact on supervision, safety, security, morale, or involves a potential conflict of interest.

Procedures and Guidelines 

Related individuals, as defined by this policy, may not be supervised or work in the same division, school , department, or unit without prior approval from the Department of Human Resources.

If an employee develops a relationship with another university employee, both employees are required to disclose the relationship by completing the Nepotism Disclosure Form and submitting the completed form to the Department of Human Resources.

Once forms are reviewed and a decision has been made, the decision is communicated to the employee and supervisor and the executed form becomes part of the respective employees’ file.

Personnel Action Changes

Personnel Action Change Request (PACR) forms are required to document the ongoing employment relationship between Jacksonville State University and any staff or faculty.  This Form is required to establish or initiate any change to an employee’s employment status, e.g.: promotions, personnel transfers, position title, additional assignments for Faculty, salary, pay grade, supplemental pay, interim appointments, as well changes to an organizational unit, or funding information. 

A supervisor/department head or other designee prepares a PACR form which is then submitted through the appropriate authorized chain of command according to the division and department which apply to the employee for whom the form is completed.  Timely submission of completed PARC forms is necessary to ensure accurate payroll processing and Jacksonville State University’s compliance with all applicable employment regulations, grant administration obligations, and/or contract provisions.

Collection and Usage of Social Security Numbers

Your social security number is used only for legitimate business purposes in performance of University duties and responsibilities. In an effort to protect your identity, JSU will secure your SSN from unauthorized access, and will never release your SSN to unauthorized parties. JSU will assign you a unique employee identification number. This unique ID number is used for most associated employment purposes at JSU. JSU Affiliates

A JSU Affiliate is an individual who is not an employee but may require an ID or access to specific JSU systems to perform duties assigned by the department. A JSU Affiliate request must be completed by the hiring authority within the Department.  For more information, visit JSU Affiliates
