THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS, THOUGH NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE, COVER GENERAL GUIDELINES OF EMPLOYMENT FOR RESIDENT ASSISTANTS. PLEASE READ AND CHECK EACH STATEMENT TO INDICATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

RAs are required to attend training sessions, RA class, and staff meetings as scheduled and announced by their Residence Life Coordinator.

RAs are required to remain registered as full-time JSU students (at least 12 credit hours per semester). An RA must maintain a 2.25 G.P.A. throughout their employment.

RAs must be active in the overall environment of their apartment area or residence hall. This includes developing programming opportunities for residents.

RAs are required to remain on campus during all training activities as well as before and after halls open and/or close during holidays and semester breaks. They are also expected to remain on-campus during various weekends and some University closed days throughout the academic year (Homecoming, Family Day, Preview Days, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, etc.).

RAs are required to participate in a background check.

RAs are not allowed to have other employment/second jobs while employed as an RA.
