Jacksonville State University Stafford Lender ListIn order to receive Stafford and PLUS loan funds, every borrower must complete a promissory note. If this is the first loan you have received since Summer of 2004 at JSU, both student and parent must complete entrance counseling and a new promissory note. Stafford and PLUS funds can not be disbursed until a valid promissory note is received. Have you accepted your loan? You are eligible to receive a Federal Stafford Loan under the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) for the upcoming academic year. The FFELP provides low-interest, government-backed loans to eligible students to help with costs of higher education. Student loans are guaranteed by United Student Aid Funds (USAF), who charges a 1% default fee. If you have questions after reading this information, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 256-782-5006. These lenders are recommended because they utilize our electronic processing procedures to speed the delivery of loan proceeds and some offer borrower benefits. Please check with the lender for details and conditions regarding eligibility for special benefits or incentives. You are encouraged, but not required, to use one of these lenders. If you wish to use another lender not listed here please contact that lender directly. If choosing to use another lender not on the list below, you will also need to contact the Financial Aid office to advise them of your selection. Alabama College Loan Program You are requesting a Federal Parent PLUS Loan under the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) for the 2007/2008 academic year. The FFELP PLUS provides low-interest, government backed loans to eligible parents to help students with the cost of higher education. The interest rate on the Parent PLUS is a fixed rate of 8.5% starting with loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2006. These loans are guaranteed by United Student Aid Funds (USA Funds), which charges a 1% default fee.
