Living on Campus

Health Insurance

As an ELI student, you are required to have health insurance the entire time you are in the program. Health insurance policies may be purchased through the ELI upon your arrival in Jacksonville.

If you wish to be covered by another health policy, the substitute policy must be approved prior to your arrival on campus. In order to be considered as a substitute policy, policies must be officially translated into English, be comprehensive and current, and contain a repatriation/medical evacuation benefit. You may fax a copy of the policy or send it via mail to the Institute administration for consideration. Upon arrival on campus, if you do not have health insurance that has been previously approved by the ELI administration, you will be required to buy insurance offered through the Institute. You may not register for classes without ELI-approved health insurance.

The ELI encourages its students to live on campus. Currently, ELI students have priority housing in JSU College Apartments. These one-bedroom, one-bath apartments have a kitchen and are furnished for your convenience. ELI students may also choose to live in dorm housing.

Payment for tuition, housing, and the meal plan is due within 24 hours of your arrival on campus.

While the purchase of a meal plan is not required for ELI students, most students choose the plan offering 14 meals throughout the week at Hopper Dining Hall or Gamecock Diner. This plan includes $65 in flexible spending over the session at the retail locations.

The campus cafeteria (three meals per day) and diner (two meals per day) offer a great selection. In addition to the cafeteria/diner, you may also use your flex dollars to eat at the following retail locations:

Baja Fresh Mexican and Grill
Freshens Smoothie Bar and Energy Zone
Grill 155 and Gamecock Pizza
Jazzman's Cafe and Bakery
WOW Cafe and Wingery

The Gamecock Express, a shuttle bus service, provides on-campus transportation. In addition, there are city routes to take you to local dining and shopping locations. The Gamecock Express is free of charge to all students.
