I do not see my instructor's name when I attempt to share my video. Where can I find it?
When you initially purchased access to EVIRx, you were automatically enrolled in the jsu.evirx.com community. However, you instructor may not be in this community. You most likely will need to join the College of Education (JSU) community or another community as directed by you instructor. Once you have logged into the site, click on the Communities Tab at the top of the page, then Available Communities, then click join next to College of Education (JSU) or another applicable community.
When I uploaded my video, it is sideways or upside down. How do I fix that?
You will need to use a video editing program on your computer to orient your video prior to uploading your video to EVIRx.
- If you have a Windows computer, you can use Windows Movie Maker. If you do not have Movie Maker on your computer, you can download it for free here.
- If you have a Mac computer, you can use iMovie. Directions for rotating are here.
My video takes a very long time to upload. How can I fix this?
Video upload speed is a combination of two factors, the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the video.
- If you are uploading the video from home, try uploading it from one of the computer labs on campus or the library. Our connection speed is much quicker than anything you could possibly have at your house.
- If you video is very large, you may want to make it smaller before uploading it. Directions for this process are below.
My video size is too large. How can I make it smaller?
Size of the video is determined by two factors, the length of the video and the quality of the video. Many new cameras (and even iPads and cellphones) record video at a very high quality. If you have already recorded the video, you will need to use a video editing program on your computer to reduce the quality prior to uploading your video to EVIRx.
- If you have a Windows computer, you can use Windows Movie Maker. If you do not have Movie Maker on your computer, you can download it for free here.
- Directions for reducing the video file size using Windows Movie Maker are located here.
- If you have a Mac computer, you can use iMovie.
- Directions for reducing the video file size using iMovie are located here here.
I recorded a video using an iPad/iPhone. How do I get the video on my computer?
Apple has already provided a great tutorial for this process. You can access it here.
I recorded a video on my iPad, now my video size is too large. How can I avoid this in the future?
- If you have already recorded the video, see the FAQ above for reducing the file size.
- If you have not recorded the video yet, you can reduce the file size prior to recording. Unfortunately, there is no way to do this using the standard camera app already installed on the iPad. The iPad only records in HD, which will make a 45 minute video over 1GB in size. However, you can download an app that allows you to record videos at a lower quality. There are many apps that have this function. A list of possible choices is available here.
