Student Media at JSU

Students are encouraged to get pre-professional experience in the department by becoming writers or photographers for The Chanticleer student newspaper and the Mimosa yearbook. Students may also work on air at the campus radio station, WLJS-FM.

Newspaper

The Chanticleer

JSU's award-winning student newspaper, The Chanticleer, offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Students serve as Editor-in-Chief, section editors, photographers, etc. Not only do staff members get reporting and editing experience, but the paper's desktop publishing system is a great way to prepare for a field that is computer-dependent.
