The Communication Department at Jacksonville State University, housed in Self Hall as pictured above, is dedicated to providing a high quality of education within a public institution that serves the best interests of it constituents. The department adheres to a "JSU 4+7" philosophy that embraces a commitment towards such teaching goals, in particular the 4 values and 7 competencies that are currently highlighted within the courses offered by the department.
The department focuses on hands-on professional training and is part of the College of Education and Professional Studies accordingly. As an accredited comprehensive University, our focus is on teaching and JSU is one of the best educational buys in Alabama. The department itself is currently seeking additional ACEJMC accreditation, to become one of 114 current universities nation-wide with such distinction. We have recently updated our computer lab facilities and installed Smart board technology or the equivalent in each of the classrooms in Self Hall
Graduates routinely embark upon rewarding and prosperous careers such as advertising, print journalism (newspapers and magazines), public relations, radio and television (broadcast) journalism, and web design or site maintenance.
