Dr. Shaw is an Associate Professor of Secondary Education. Dr. Shaw earned a bachelor of arts in Philosophy and in English Magna Cum Laude. She holds a master of arts in Medieval English and a Master of Science in Education. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas in Curriculum and Instruction with cognates in ethics and policy, and education technology.
Dr. Shaw was credentialed in secondary English language arts, social sciences, and technology. Her teaching experience is extensive in both urban and rural settings that encompass international students, bi-national populations, and Hispanic-serving institutions. She has taught a range of ability levels including advanced placement courses and developmental courses.
Dr. Shaw's expertise in curriulum development includes writing undergraduate and graduate secondary education programs for state and national certification. She has developed courses for the online environment as well as taught an M.Ed. delivered completely online.
Dr. Shaw’s research examines adolescent literacy acquisition, sequential art, literary criticism, curriculum ethics, education policy, sociology of curriculum, critical pedagogy.
Dr. Shaw is available from 8:00 - 4:30 Monday through Friday.
