Each year, the JSU drama department awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to talented, hard-working drama students. Scholarships are awarded through an application process that includes auditions or interviews. Students must also demonstrate a commitment to JSU productions and high academic standards.

On campus auditions/interviews will be held on February 27, 2016.  To make an appointment, please contact Linda Adams 
Everyone registered for scholarship auditions/interviews will be contacted to confirm by Feb 15.  
JSU drama will also be attending Trumbauer auditions and the State Thespian Competitions; please visit our booth at either event for more information.

Once a scholarship is awarded, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Have and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 per term, 2.5 overall, and 3.0 in Drama courses.
  • Be a declared Drama major.
  • Have a maximum of three (3) cuts in drama-related major courses.
  • Make a contribution (either on or back stage) to each production during the term. Scholarship work and cast assignments are made and announced at the beginning of each semester.
  • Be enrolled in at least one drama course per term.
  • Be a full-time (12-hour load minimum) JSU student.

For their audition or portfolio review, students should prepare

Performance concentration (no Improv or original material):
  • One-minute comic monologue
  • One-minute serious monologue
  • OPTIONAL- one-minute song
  • Current resume
Design/Technical Concentration:
  • Portfolio of stage scenery, props, costumes, lighting or sound technical or design work.
  • Current resume
  • Optionally, you may also present other original artwork that is relevant.
