1984 Jeffrey R. Nichols, upon exiting college, went on to graduate at the top of his television and broadcasting class from Miami Lakes Technical Educational Center. At age 22, he accepted a staff position at WFOR CH 4, Miami's #1 CBS news affiliate. Within four months, he was promoted to the highest ranks of "special assignment team", where he covered such visually-intensive stories as the "DEA Undercover Sting Operation;" "1984 Miami Riots;" "Coast Guard High Seas Drug Bust", Police Helicopter Surveillance, and Court Room Pool Camera Remotes.

1985 Mr. Nichols obtained the prestigious position of Chief Cameraman for the #1 Spanish International Network…UNIVISION. * Responsibilities: ordering and maintenance of two full professional camera and audio packages ... Training: Electronic Field Production (EFP) camera and audio personnel, (Some trainees became producers for Univision and various networks). Editing show packages. During employment, he established the shooting style for UNIVISION's first live, two-hour morning talk show, "Mundo Latino".

While traveling and shooting in many different countries for "Mundo Latino", he developed innovative Electronic Field Production (EFP) skills, and assisted in producing live satellite field productions feeds…filming travel shows, cooking shows, fitness shows and sporting events, as well as aerial and underwater shooting.

1987 " Mundo Latino" relocated to Los Angeles. * Responsibilities: same as above. Later started freelancing as a news cameraman for several southern California news stations: KCBS CH 2, KCOP CH 13, KTTV CH 11, and KTLA Ch 5. He was offered staff positions several times by the various news stations. Mr. Nichols really enjoyed the freedom of freelance, and decline humbly every time.
1988 Founded FirsTake Productions , a professional film and video production company that specializes in shooting a variety of projects for film and broadcast television. As the founder and Director of Photography (DP), Mr. Nichols has established a superior reputation in the film and television industry, and is one of the most sought-after DPs in Hollywood.

1990 Traveled to South Africa to produce and shoot The Release of Nelson Mandela , a documentary on the release of the South African civil rights leader, and the critically acclaimed Time Out: The Truth about HIV, AIDS, and You .

As DP, he has filmed behind the scenes specials for Sylvester Stallone's Demolition Man , Steve Martin's Leap of Faith , Spider Man, Frost, Val Kilmer's Batman Forever , and Jim Carrey's Liar Liar just to name a few.

He has also worked on the NAACP Image Awards, The Essence Awards, The Grammys, and the Billboard Music Awards. While working in Los Angeles, Mr. Nichols also acquired a valuable amount of studio camera experience.

His list of current/former clients is extensive - embodies: Direct TV n3D Network , American Idol 19 Entertainment, Jerry Springer "Baggage" Comcast Network, The Africa Channel , Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Universal / MCA , UPN Network, de Passe Entertainment , MTV , NBC Promotions, Tribune Entertainment , Fox Network, Quincy Jones Entertainment, Tri-Star Pictures, Columbia Pictures and CBS Promotions.

2010 Mr. Nichols 3D Cinematography and 3D editing , (extraordinary cutting edge technology) is presently his professional DP birthmark... filming for Direct TV's n3D Network .
He is also involved in 3D test shoots. Attending 3D workshops, i.e. Dolby, Sony, and Panasonic 3DSystems Development Groups. "Networking is a key component. One objective is to articulate and unite this awesome technology to my production students".
