The JSU Drama department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Drama with one of two concentrations, Performance or Design/Technology. Both concentrations combine a strong core of dramatic study with electives that will enhance and improve student's natural abilities and strengths. In addition, the drama department offers a minor in drama and a new minor in Film/Entertainment Technology. |

The department requires all students to take a number of core classes including: Theatre History, Dramatic Theory, lab classes in scenery, costuming and lighting, Acting, and Stage management. In their senior year, all students are also required to complete a directed practicum in their area of specialization. |

In addition to the 51 core hours, students with a Performance Concentration also take at least 18 hours in classes such as Acting II, Movement for the Stage, Speech for the Performer, Child Drama, Stage Make-up, Auditioning and Portfolio, and Careers in Performance. |

Students with a Design concentration also take an additional 18 hours in classes such as Costume, Sound, Scenic or Lighting Design, Costume Techniques I and II, Script Analysis for Designers, Puppetry, Scene Painting and Stage Carpentry. |

About JSU Drama JSU has one of only five theatre departments in the state of Alabama to be accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. First accredited in 1994, JSU has met strict standards for strong theatrical and academic training. Our department offers a strong liberal arts education combined with excellent production, performance and design opportunities for our students. In addition to our strong academic commitment, the drama department also presents 5-6 main stage productions each year. Our students are involved in all aspects of production both onstage and backstage. |
