Adjusting WS-FTP to update folders and files properly

There is a feature in WS-FTP LE Version 5.08 (and possibly other versions of WS-FTP) that may cause problems when you try to update your Web pages. The feature may prevent some of your files from being transferred to the server.

The name of this feature is "Don't transfer older or same files during directory transfers."

A few JSU Web Account Users have recently experienced problems while uploading their files to the Web server. After transferring the files, they noticed that some files failed to upload - leaving some pages susceptible to being disabled.

The files that could not be uploaded were identical to the files on the server. Since no changes were made to the files, WS-FTP was not transferring them to the server. To avoid this problem, you must turn off the "Don't transfer older or same files during directory transfers" feature.

If you use WS-FTP to transfer your files to the JSU Web server, the following instructions can assist you in making the necessary changes:

NOTE: Older versions of WS-FTP do not support this feature and the changes are not necessary.
