Costume (Period) Romance Pathfinder

(Houston Cole Library)

Notes: Although it itself can be divided into subgenres, the "costume" or "period" romance nearly always has a historical setting, usually from the 16th through the 19th centuries.  The degree of historical accuracy may vary from near exactitude to a strong element of fantasy. This is by far the most numerous type of romance novel and is the type most people think of when they consider the genre "romance."
