Experience

·         On-site supervision and coordination of activities for field placement students at Etowah County Department of Human Resources in the area of Child Welfare Practice

·         Direct practice with children in therapeutic foster homes, birth parents, and foster parents.  The development and implementation of treatment plans  

·         Supervision of case workers and foster homes, development and recruitment of foster care resources, coordinating placements of children in foster care, and public relations with area agencies and churches 

·         Served on the Quality Assurance Committee of the Calhoun County Department of Human Resources.  This involved the review of open cases and statistical information to insure best practice within the agency

·         Led Group Preparation and Selection for potential foster and adoptive parents through the United Methodist Children's Home.  These sessions helped participant decide if fostering and/or adopting were appropriate for them to pursue and prepared them for issues that may arise after a child is placed in their home.  These duties also involved the conducting and evaluation of home studies with the potential foster and adoptive parents.

·         Led Deciding Together (an individual family preparation for potential foster and adoptive parents) through the United Methodist Children's Home. These sessions helped participant decide if fostering and/or adopting were appropriate for them to pursue and prepared them for issues that may arise after a child is placed in their home.
