Simultaneous Membership Program Information

Most ROTC Cadets at Jacksonville State University find it more financially beneficial to participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program or SMP.  SMP Cadets work 16 hours per month drilling in either an Alabama National Guard unit or a U.S. Army Reserve unit nearby, earn drill pay at the pay grade of an E-5 (currently $247.00 per month), and gain valuable experience that they can put to use once they are commissioned as an Army Officer.  Additionally, once commissioned, they actually receive a higher salary based on the years of experience they received in either  the Alabama Army National Guard or U.S. Army Reserve.  Over time this can mean big bucks!

The factsheets below outline the financial benefits of SMP cadets.  Cadets interested in the SMP program should first schedule a short interview with the Professor of Military Science at JSU to determine suitability and qualifications.  Once approved for the SMP program, cadets can enlist in either the Alabama National Guard or U.S. Army Reserve with the specific intent to become SMP cadets.  For more information, please contact us at (256) 782-5601 or email us at rotc@jsu.edu.
