Academic Interests

Dr. Bitgood's primary interest is social design or environment-behavior relationships.  Most of his recent research has been in exhibition centers (museums, science centers, zoos, etc.) where he studies how to increase the impact of exhibits by applying psychological principles.  Students, who are a critical part of the research program, are able to present at professional conferences and publish in refereed journals.

Although Dr. Bitgood is retired, he still works regularly in the department and continues to supervise student research.

Courses taught include: Professional Issues, Program Evaluation, Behavior Change in Children, Environmental Psychology.
