Vision
|
Within five years, OIRA will advance the use
of technology in operations by implementing electronic
student assessment measures, developing a data warehouse
supported by data mining and advanced prediction tools,
implementing a dynamic web-based Fact Book, and expanding
centralized planning, quality assurance, and tracking
databases that respond to SACS accreditation requirements
and meet JSU’s expectations for an environment of continuous
improvement. OIRA will promote a culture of assessment that
involves faculty and administrators at all levels and will
be an identifiable source of support throughout the JSU
community. |
OIRA 2007-2008 Goals and Objectives
GOAL 1
Implement state-of-the-art technologies to support
institutional research and assessment;
OBJECTIVES
1.01. Investigate ways MyJSU can support
admission of online assessment measures/survey.
1.02. Based upon FY 2007 findings, develop
and implement online assessment system.
1.03 Evaluate effectiveness of and
continuously improve online database-driven Fact Book.
1.04 Determine Data warehouse
Specifications and allocate data in a specified format for easy access.
1.05 Gather recommendations from
PRISM subcommittee and make improvements.
1.06 Fully integrate Tableau
efficiencies as a way to visually represent data to JSU community.
1.07 All systems and methods for
extracting data from Banner will be operational.
GOAL 2
Develop methods of systematic institutional and
departmental support that prepare JSU to demonstrate academic and
administrative excellence;
OBJECTIVES
2.01. Develop centralized ongoing automated
system for faculty credential management.
2.02. Develop student outcomes for general
education and develop system for assessing general education.
2.03. Continue to manage web-based resource
center for departmental planning, assessment.
2.04. Evaluate second cycle of Program
Review and fine-tune the process. Implement workable management system
for Program Review.
2.05. Implement guidelines/rubrics for
assessing assessment.
GOAL 3
Promote a culture of assessment in an environment
of continuous improvement;
OBJECTIVES
3.01. Continue to maintain an informative
and user-friendly website.
3.02. Actively participate in higher
education institutional research and assessment professions.
3.03. Continue to evaluate and redesign
Fact Book to make it more appealing and user-friendly.
3.04. Continue to develop and implement a
method for increasing faculty participation in assessment.
3.05. Review/evaluate the existing
assessment measures periodically, and identify and implemnet new
measures as needed.
3.06. Continue publication of Momentum, the
research and assessment newsletter that promotes a culture of assessment
and system of continuous improvement.
3.07. Disseminate research and assessment
findings at every opportunity.
3.08. Identify or determine outcome measure
that defines a "culture of assessment" and "continuous improvement."
3.09. Review and evaluate/audit retention
and graduate rate methodology.
3.10. Successfully participate in Cycle 2
of Program Review.
3.11. Continue to implement University's
Strategic Plan.
