Johnny Brown, a graduate of the University of North Alabama and Auburn University, has been with Jacksonville State University for almost twenty years.  His friendly style of teaching and care are unique characteristics that resembles parenting students. He began teaching developmental writing and freshman orientation in the Center for Individualized Instruction, now Learning Services, under Dr. Claudia McDade's mentorship. Dr. McDade introduced Johnny to Precision Teaching, and he developed the Center's writing course and has modified and fine-tuned the courses. Johnny is a published poet and ,in addition, has written two editions of a Precision Teaching Writing text, Write Away, Write Away II & Write Away III. 

Johnny is an avid Gamecock fan, a sports enthusiast, a collector of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, a dog and cat lover. Johnny's second home is Learning Services, where students excel in school as well as in life!
