DUTIES: This position provides support to the university for many areas of Academic Computing and Network Support specifically to all University Computer Labs. The position consults with users to identify and analyze computer support needs. Assists Executive Director with the supervision and maintenance of security standards on the administrative system. The position is also expected to monitor the campus computer network, computer labs, and student workers in the evening during normal school terms. Provides technical and end-user support services for the installation, support, and maintenance of hardware and software for campus computer network. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with large-scale project development required. Acceptable combination of skills with IBM Multiprise 2000, VM, VSE-ESA, DL/1, VTAM, VSAM, CICS, ScriptWrite, HTML, C++, UNIX, and Relational Database. Experience with credit card and E-Business application desired. Salary: $25.00 to $75.00 per hour.
POLICE OFFICER, Reference number 023400
Part-time and Temporary Duties: Police work in the protection of life and University property through the enforcement of laws and regulations of the university. Employees may be offered employment on day or evening shifts and will work odd hours. Patrol campus in order to deter crime, direct traffic, provide service or assistance to employees or visitors to campus, and to enforce traffic and psrking regulations. Talks with individuals to determine causes of disturbances or accidents. Work special events, provide security, make arrest when appropriate. Takes reports and completes forms to record incident. Directs traffic at university events. (All duties listed may not be found in this position nor does the list include all tasks which may be assigned to postions in this class.) May be required to perform same duties as a full time sworn officer. Physical Requirements: Employees will be required to stand, walk and sit for 1 to 4 hours continuously, carry barricades and perform the same physical duties as full time sworn officers. Qualifications: Must meet the same requirements as set forth in the Code of Alabama section 36-21-46 for full time sworn officers. Must have Alabama POST Certification. Valid Alabama drver's license required at the time of appointment. Salary $15.00 - $30.00 per hour.

Physical & Earth Sciences-Archaeology Duties: These positions provide a variety of support functions in the areas of field and/or laboratory archaeological work. Examples of field work include shoveling, screening, photographing, surveying or mapping. Examples of laboratory work include washing archaeological material, cataloging, counting and weighing specimens, and sorting and analyzing specimens. Some positions will require the supervision of less experienced personnel.
Physical Requirements: Employees engaged in field work will work outdoors in all weather conditions. Employees will bend and stoop, lift and carry objects of varying weights. Employees must possess hand dexterity to manipulate hand tools and possess visual acuity to identify small objects. Qualifications: Graduation from high school supplemented by course work in archaeology or anthropology and at least one field season of experience in archaeology. Salary:$6.00 to $30.00 per hour. Special Note: Individuals employed in this position will work as needed and will be paid on an hourly basis. This position is funded by a grant and employment is contingent on funding. Individuals employed in this position will not receive benefits.

Duties: Lawn/grounds work of a routine and unskilled nature, performed out of doors in all weather conditions. Cuts grass, cuts or removes weeds and grass from sidewalks and edges of buildings using weed eater. Poisons grass and weeds using back pack sprayer. Picks up trash and debris on campus grounds, removes trash, leaves and debris from curbs, gutters and drains using rakes, shovel and leaf blower. Drives university trucks to transport equipment or to dispose of trash/leaves collected. Operates chain saw, mowers, hedge trimmers, weed eaters, sprayers, and related tools in grounds care tasks. Rods out sewer lines to unstop blockages. Knowledge of the safe use and operation of grounds maintenance tools, to include push mower, leaf blower, weed eater, chain saw, hedge trimmer and weed sprayer. (All duties listed may not be found in this position nor does the list include all tasks which may be assigned to positions in this class.) Physical Requirements: Employees will walk behind and operate small push mowers up to two hours continuously; transport mowers (approx weight 123 lbs) to campus locations; lift mowers to clean blades; carry leaf blowers (approx weight 25 lbs) and weedeaters (approx weight 21 lbs) up to two hours continuously, carry back pack weed sprayers (approx weight 26 lbs) up to one hour continuously; walk to locations across campus; bend, stoop or kneel to pull weeds/grass from flower beds; clean roofs and drains by climbing extension ladders; observe/inspect grounds, sidewalks, and shrubbery to determine need for mowing/trimming. Note, weights listed are for current equipment and are subject to change as different equipment is purchased. Qualifications: Some experience in manual labor. Valid Alabama Driver's license. Salary: $6.55 to $8.64 per hour.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The individuals employed in these temporary positions must be able to speak and listen to others, read documents written in English and move from one location to another on campus. Some positions will be required to lift and carry individuals in order to provide personal care. QUALIFICATIONS: Reader - Ability to read clearly and fluently material encountered at College level. Tutor - Ability to write legibly, take down and organize class notes. Sighted Guide - Ability to lead blind and low vision students on and off campus. DUTIES: The employee in the position will make correct change and provide receipts for payments. Count, balance, and report cash and checks received for payment. Work the ticket booth or ticket gate for athletic events at time and locations designated by the Athletic Department or work in the university bookstore selling textbooks and other items. The job requires work on various days of the week, depending on the athletic event or the workload in the bookstore. The employee will report to the Assistant Athletic Director, External Affairs and work will be reviewed for compliance with university policy, adherence to auditing standards, and successful completion of goals. TEMPORARY CLERICAL Duties: Acts as receptionist; receives, screens and routes visitors, answers routine inquiries by phone or in person or refers to appropriate person; maintains supervisor's appointment calendar. Receives, sorts according to content, and distributes mail; completes routine forms. Establishes and maintains filing systems. Operates standard office. Verifies the correctness of processed data. Maintains inventory of standard office supplies and materials. Records verbal and numerical data such as personnel and payroll information following designated procedures. Makes simple calculations such as addition, subtraction, and division by hand or using machine. May supervise student workers. Performs related work as required. LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
DUTIES: This is coordinating, planning, and organizing work of moderate scope and complexity for the laboratories in the college of Arts and Sciences. The employees in this classification will work with some independence and will receive guidance and instruction from a faculty member or department head. Work will be reviewed while in progress and upon completion for compliance to procedures. The employee will report to and will be evaluated by the department head.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline appropriate to the department and a background (course work or work experience) in chemistry. Must possess computer skills sufficient to use word processing and spreadsheet software. A valid driver’s license.
