 ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE  

MASTER IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION WITH A CONCENTRATION IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE MANAGEMENT

Degree requirements. The degree consists of a total of 36 semester hours with 15 required semester hours in public administration courses, 15 required semester hours in the concentration and 6 semester hours of electives.

Public Administration. The following public administration COURSES are required:
  • PSC 481G Public Administration (3)
  • PSC 502 Research Methods in Public Administration (3)
  • PSC 531 Public Personnel Administration (3)
  • PSC 532 Public Finance Admininistration (3) and
  • PSC 521 Administrative Law (3) or PSC 545 Seminar in Public Administration (3)
Environmental Science Management.

ESC 500, Concepts in Environmental Science (3) or its equivalent is a prerequisite for all ESC courses in the program. The intent of this prerequisite is to ensure that all students entering the concentration have had at least one course at either the graduate or undergraduate level that emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of environmental issues and their solutions. Your advisor can determine whether you have met the prerequisite.

The following 15 semester hours of COURSES are required in the concentration:
  • SAM 510. Introduction to Spatial Analysis (3)
  • ESC 510. Environmental Laws and Regulations (3)
  • ESC 525. Environmental Auditing (3)
  • ESC 535. Integrated Waste Management (3)
  • ESC 555. Risk Analysis (3)
Electives. The remaining six hours are electives to be determined through faculty advisement.

The following courses could be used to meet the degree requirement of 6 elective hours:
  • ESC 541. Groundwater Hydrology (3)
  • ESC 565. Hazardous Wastes Remediation (3)
  • SAM 520. Spatial Data Collection and Management (3)
