BLOCK FAULT



Identify the footwall block, the hanging wall block, the fault trace, the fault scarp, and the fault plane.





The footwall block is on the left.
The hanging wall block is on the right.
The fault trace is the line along the surface of the earth formed by the fault.
The fault scarp is the cliff that results from the fault movement.
The fault plane is the two dimensional surface of breakage and movement.

Note that this is a normal fault.
