Newsletter - 2008 Concert #3

ABBA: The Hits
Even if you don’t know the name of each group member, you’ll most likely know their music. ABBA has sold 370 million albums since the group hit the charts in the mid-70s. Their popularity has hardly faded as the years pass; they continue to sell 2 to 3 million albums a year. ABBA: The Hits is a musical story performed by the Swedish tribute band Waterloo together with our own Alabama Symphony Orchestra. You’ll be hearing Mama Mia, Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, and many more. This promises to be one of the most popular Music at McClellan concerts ever. See more about Waterloo at
www.abba-the-show.com

ABBA Trivia: The name "ABBA" is an acronym formed from the first letters of each of the group member's given name (Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid). To learn more about ABBA visit www.abbasite.com

If a full evening of ABBA isn’t enough, watch for the July opening of the movie Mamma Mia, a screen adaptation of the hit musical of the same name. Visit www.mammamiamovie.com.

Concert Events
Back by popular demand for your enjoyment before the full concert begins, is Jacksonville’s own JaxPan Steel Drum Band. Founding member, Tracy Tyler, has been teaching percussion at JSU for 26 years and performs regularly with a variety of groups. Tracy is a featured artist on the newly released BTJ Trio CD, "something borrowed...", a collection of jazz standards arranged for guitar, bass & vibes. Other JaxPan members include Kelly Gregg, Ashley Gaither, Kristina Cothran, Rod Conaway, Kim Stevens and Brian Degaetano. To find out more about the band and its members visit our JaxPan page.

Picnic Options
Whether your picnic consists of an elaborate spread or a burger from the concession stand, picnics are a well established tradition at Music at McClellan. Check out the picnic tips on the website or visit any of our vendors The 19th Hole at Cane Creek (www.canecreekgolf.com) will offer box dinners with concert-goers in mind. They will be joined on site by Dad’s BBQ, Big Pappy’s Kitchen, CJ’s Chuckwagon, and the Courthouse Cafe. What could be easier?
