The health-fitness screening you are about to participate in will be divided into three (3) separate sessions. The first session will involve drawing a blood sample (via venipuncture) in order to measure blood levels of cholesterol, fat, and lipoproteins. The second session will encompass a variety of tests to measure your relative level of flexibility, muscular strength, cardiovascular and pulmonary efficiency. The final session will involve a consultation, at which time the results of the evaluation will be discussed. Please note the following pre-evaluation instructions:
At least a 12-hour fast prior to drawing the blood sample is necessary. The blood sample will be drawn during the morning hours (usually around 7:30 a.m.); thus, nothing should be taken by mouth (except for water) after 7:30 p.m. the night before the test. The test requires approximately 5 minutes of your time.
The evening prior to the test, please do not overindulge in food or beverage. The preceding meal, if any, should be light, without butter, cream, coffee, tea, or alcohol. Do not smoke or eat at least two hours before the test. On the day of the test please do not exercise. Comfortable, loose fitting clothing should be worn with walking/running shoes. A short sleeve shirt or tee shirt is best for taking blood pressure. Please do not wear sweat clothes, a one-piece swimming suit, leotard/tights OR pantyhose. Please be dressed and ready for testing at your scheduled time. Allow at least one (1) full hour for testing. TESTING SITEAll tests will be conducted at the Wellness Testing Center, Room 204 A Pete Mathews Coliseum, Jacksonville State University. To find the Wellness Testing Center come in on the North side of the Coliseum (facing Hwy 204) and enter the first door on your left (there is a sign above the door). The Wellness Testing Center is located just down the hall on the left. If you have any questions, please call the Wellness Testing Center at 782-55114.
