The mission of the JSU Recreation Leadership program is: “Training recreational professionals
for a changing, global society.”
Recreation Leadership Degree Program
Students pursuing this 128 hour program of study would concentrate in one
of the following areas: Community Recreation and Youth Sports, Camping and Outdoor Education,
or Youth Development.
Graduates with this degree may pursue a career in the following:
- Public Recreation and Parks Agencies
- Outdoor Education in recreation, education, development, or therapeutic settings
- Leadership in non-profit youth agencies: YMCA, YWCA, Boy Scouts and Girl
Scouts
- Faith-based organizations
- Commercial Recreation
- Youth Ministry
A 21 hour minor in recreation administration is available for students
majoring in non-teaching degree fields.
