Physical Education

Students who excel in physical activities and sports and have a passion for promoting active lifestyles may wish to become professional physical educators. The physical education major can normally complete the 128 hours required to attain the Bachelor of Science in Education degree in four academic years.

Students who meet the requirements for this degree program will receive a Class B Professional Certificate and will be qualified to teach physical education in grades N through 12. A minor in physical education is available for students who are pursuing a non-teaching degree. A minor consists of 21 hours of selected courses.

The physical education faculty are guided by the college's conceptual framework in order to prepare graduates to be creative decision makers. We strive to promote reflective thinking through coursework and practicum experiences so that our students will be able to make decisions rapidly, continuously, and purposefully while in the field.

The following documents may be helpful as you progress through the program:

  • Unofficial Checklist - This document should help you keep track of your progress toward graduation.
  • Tentative class offerings - This information can help you decide when to take certain courses by providing you with projected offerings. This can be useful because some classes are only offered once a year. However, this is a tentative schedule, which is subject to change.
  • Projected schedule - You may wish to follow this semester by semester plan.
