On November 15, 2005 at the Alabama State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (ASAHPERD) Fall Conference in Birmingham, Kory Hill was presented the ASAHPERD P.R.I.D.E. (Personal Responsibility In Delivering Excellence) Award by Dr. Willie Hey, ASAHPERD President. In his nomination letter Dr. Hey stated "Kory is very deserving of the ASAHPERD P.R.I.D.E. Recognition because of his innovative strategies for teaching physical education to pre-service teachers. His mild mannerisms cannot hide his determination and dedication. His devotion to the JSU Physical Education majors and their professional development is second to none. He realizes the importance of hands-on instruction, putting the student first, and gets his message across to the students in a positive way."
