Honor Society History
During the Fall semester of 2002, several members of the Department of HPER
Major's Club approached the faculty requesting permission to create an undergraduate honor society
specifically for HPER majors. A committee consisting of departmental faculty and HPER majors set
in motion the process that created the JSU Department of HPER Honor Society. The undergraduate HPER
Honor Society was established and at the conclusion of the 2003 Spring semester inducted its first
members. Graduating HPER Honor Society inductees receive a plaque and honor cords to be worn at their
commencement ceremony. Non-graduating HPER Honor Society inductees receive a certificate. The
undergraduate honor society was so well received that a graduate HPER Honor Society was created
and inducted its first members during the Summer of 2003 ceremony. In recognition of their
academic success the members of the Department of HPER faculty and staff are proud to recognize
our undergraduate and graduate HPER majors with an honor society ceremony.
The Spring 2005 induction ceremony was held on Wednesday, April 27 at
6 pm in the Gamecock Center behind Stephenson Hall.
All previous inductees are listed by their induction semester with
the most recently inducted class listed first.
