On November 15, 2005 at the Alabama State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (ASAHPERD) Fall Conference in Birmingham, Gina Mabrey was presented the ASAHPERD P.R.I.D.E. (Personal Responsibility In Delivering Excellence) Award by Dr. Willie Hey, ASAHPERD President.

In his nomination letter Dr. Hey stated "Gina is very deserving of the ASAHPERD P.R.I.D.E. Recognition because of her endurance, longevity, dedication to the profession, her resilience when facing new challenges, and her interest in educating future professionals. It is a joy to work with one so devoted, enthusiastic, energetic, and who realizes the importance of promoting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle."
