Graduates:
Tammy Hazelwood - B.S.Ed. Physical Education
Tammy is from Southside, Alabama where she played softball, volleyball and ran track at Southside High School. She attended Gadsden State Community College before transferring to JSU. She was active in intramural sports and the HPER club, is a member of the Alabama State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (ASAHPERD) and was awarded the Elliot Walker Memorial Scholarship. Tammy will receive her B.S.Ed. in Physical Education with an add-on certification in Health Education in the Fall of 2004. After graduation she plans to enroll in graduate courses and finish her certification in Biology. Misty Paige Holmes - M.S.Ed. Physical Education
Misty Holmes Misty is a graduate student in Physical Education from Munford, Alabama where she was a cheerleader and President of the Student Government at Munford High School. She attended Gadsdedn State Community College before transferring to JSU. She was a member of the JSU Fastbreakers while earning an undergraduate degree in Marketing. Misty currently teaches gymnastics at the World of Performing Arts and plans to teach and continue her education at JSU by earning an add-on certification in Math and pursuing an Educational Specialist degree.
Keisha Maddux - B.S. Exercise Science & Wellness
Keisha is from Trion, Georgia where she was on the gymnastics, tennis and debate teams and was a cheerleader at Trion High School. She has attended West Georgia State University and graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Program at Floyd College in 1999. Keisha is a licensed PTA (in GA) and has been working while pursuing her degree at JSU. After graduation she hopes to enroll in the Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Keisha Maddox
Nathan McGriff - B.S. Exercise Science & Wellness
Nathan McGriff Nathan is from Sulligent, Alabama where he played football, baseball, basketball, ran track, was an SGA Representative and involved in FCA at Sulligent High School. He attended Bevill State Community College before transferring to JSU where he has been a student athletic trainer for three years. Following graduation in the Fall of 2004, Nathan will attend Physical Therapy Assistant School at Wallace State Community College at Hanceville.
Mary Wissinger - B.S. Exercise Science & Wellness
Mary is from Hayden, Alabama where she was a member of the varsity basketball, cheerleading, dance, and track teams at Hayden High School before graduating in 2000. Her B.S. degree is in Exercise Science & Wellness with a minor in Nutrition. Mary recently took the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Health Fitness Instructor (HFI) Certification exam and is pursuing a full-time position in a health related field while she awaits the results of the ACSM exam. Jennifer Thompson Young - B.S.Ed. Physical Education
Jennifer Young Jennifer is originally from Ragland, Alabama, graduated from Ohatchee High School in 1993 where she was a Cheerleader, played Varsity Basketball, Softball, and Volleyball, and was a member of the Drama Club. She attended Southern Union State Community College on a Cheerleading Scholarship and attended Gadsden State Community College where she was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Jennifer received her B.S.Ed. degree in Physical Education and works at Kitty Stone Elementary School where she teaches Physical Education and coaches Cheerleading. Jennifer lives in Piedmont with her husband Brian and two children, Davis (6) and Haydon (3).

Courtney Brothers
Courtney is from Southside, Alabama where she played volleyball, softball, and basketball at Southside High School and received a scholarship to play softball at Gadsden State Community College. She is the daughter of Johnny and Teresa Brothers and is currently coaching volleyball, softball, and basketball at Southside High School. Courtney is a Health Education major with a minor in Physical Education and plans to teach Health and/or Physical Education and coach after graduating from JSU in the Spring of 2005. Tommy Bryant
Tommy Bryant photo not available Tommy is a Physical Education major from Sylvania, Alabama where he played varsity basketball and was a member of the Beta and Spanish Clubs and a member of Mu Alpha Theta before graduating in 2000. He attended Gadsden State Community College before coming to JSU. He is a member of the HPER Club and will teach Physical Education after receiving his degree in the Spring of 2005.
Andrew Burns
Andrew is from Bynum, Alabama where he played football and baseball and was Vice-President of the Student Council at Walter Wellborn High School. He transferred to JSU from Wallace State Community College in Hanceville. Andrew is an Exercise Science & Wellness major with a minor in History and is a member of the HPER Club, the History Club, the National History Fraternity, the National Honor Society (Omicron), and the Dean's list. Andrew and his wife Amy have a three year-old son named Luke. After graduating in the Spring of 2005 he plans to attend Physical Therapy school at UAB. Andrew Burns
Joyce Fuller
Joyce Fuller photo not available Joyce is a Physical Education major from Heflin, Alabama where she attended Cleburne County High School. After graduation she went to Gadsden State Community College before transferring to JSU. Joyce has been very active in the HPER Club and has been a valuable volunteer for both the Gamecock Gallop and Gamecock Youth Run. She has been married for 17 years and is the proud mother of a 15 year-old son and 12 year-old daughter. Joyce's plans to become a middle school or high school Physical Education teacher after graduating in the Spring of 2005.
Cristy Grizzard
Cristy is form Oxford, Alabama where she played volleyball, basketball, and softball and was a member of the BETA and Latin Clubs at Faith Christian High School. At JSU she has been on the Dean's list, active in the HPER Club and Intramural sports where she was named Recreational Sports Woman of the year! Last summer Cristy went on a mission trip to Lithuania and has volunteered with World Changers, Special Olympics, and Lakeshore Super Sports. After receiving her degree in Physical Education in the Spring of 2005, she plans to teach Physical Education and coach volleyball and/or softball. Cristy Grizzard
Steven Herston
Steven Herston Steven is from Cedar Bluff, Alabama where he played football and baseball and was in the Coronation Court, the Beta Club and the Math contest team. He attended Shoals Community College, Central Community College and the University of North Alabama before coming to JSU. Steven earned a Bryant-Jordan Scholarship, is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and listed in Who's Who among students in Colleges and Universities. He enjoys lifting weights and is the Recreation Director at the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring, GA.
Lindsey Holland
Lindsey is from Southside, Alabama where she was President of the ASTRA Club, the S Club,FCCLA and was a cheerleader (3 years), played soccer (3 years), was a Class Beauty (4 years) and on the Homecoming Court (4 years) at Southside High School. She attended Auburn University and Gadsden State Community College prior to enrolling at JSU. Lindsey is Vice-President of Administration for Alpha Omicron Pi, a member of the HPER Club, participates in Intramural Sports, serves on Student Government committees and is listed in Who's Who among students in Colleges and Universities. She is an Exercise Science & Wellness major with a minor in Psychology and plans to enter the Physical Therapy Assistant Program at Jefferson State Community College after graduating in the Summer of 2005. Micheal Pattillo
Micheal Pattillo Micheal is from Auburn, Alabama where he played football and was a member of JROTC and FFA at Auburn High School. He earned a David Boozer scholarship, is listed in Who's Who among students in Colleges and Universities and the National Dean's list. He has worked at JSU's Camp Life and is a member of the HPER Club and JSU Disaster team. Micheal has been a volunteer coach and substitute teacher at Piedmont High School for the past two years and plans to be a High School Physical Education teacher and coach and one day coach at the college level.
Clay Shearer Jr.
Clay is a Physical Education major from Cullman, Alabama where he played baseball (4 years), football (1 year), basketball (1 year) and was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Cullman High School. He played baseball at Bevill State Community College and Enterprise State and also attended Wallace State Community College before transferring to JSU on a transfer scholarship. Clay was on the Dean's list at Bevill State and was named the outstanding transfer student. While at JSU he has been active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Intramural Sports and the HPER Club. Following his graduation in the Spring of 2005 Clay plans to teach Physical Education and Coach Baseball at the High School level. Clay Shearer Jr.
Lauren Shirey
Lauren Shirey Lauren is a Physical Education major from Jacksonville, Alabama where she played tennis and soccer at Jacksonville High School. After graduating from JHS Lauren attended Gadsden State Community College before transferring to JSU. She was awarded the Clyde and Jerry Wilson scholarship and is listed in Who's Who among Students in Universities and Colleges. Lauren is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Beta Gamma and enjoys playing tennis, ping pong, water and snow skiing. After receiving her degree in the Spring of 2006 she plans to pursue a Master's degree in Nutrition.
Chase Smith
Chase is from Birmingham, Alabama where he played football, ran track, and was a member of FCA and the Interact Club at Shades Valley High School. At JSU he is a member of the football team, Omicron Delta Kappa and the HPER Club. After graduating in the Fall of 2005 Chase plans to become a Physical Educator at the High School level. Chase Smith
Joshua Smith
Joshua Smith Joshua is form Geraldine, Alabama where he played football, basketball, and baseball and was a member of the Beta Club at Geraldine High School. He played baseball at Snead State Community College before transferring to JSU. Joshua earned an Elliot Scholarship and is listed in Who's Who among students in Colleges and Universities. He is majoring in Exercise Science & Wellness with a minor in Nutrition and plans to attend Physical Therapy School at either UAB or South Alabama after graduating in the Fall of 2005.
Mary H. Stovall
Mary is from Hokes Bluff, Alabama where she graduated from Litchfield High School. She graduated cum laude from Gadsden State Community College before enrolling at JSU. Mary is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the HPER Club and was named Employee of the year at Riverview Regional Medical Center. After receiving her degree in Physical Education with an add-on endorsement in Health Education she plans to be an elementary Health and Physical Education teacher. Mary has been married to Gary Stovall for 18 years and is the proud mother of a 16 year-old son. Mary Stovall
