Dana is a 1987 Spring Garden High School Graduate where
she led her team to the Class 1A State Basketball Championship. She received a
B.S.Ed. in Physical Education from JSU in 1991 while earning Division II
Basketball All-America honors and leading her team to the Elite Eight. She
received an M.S.Ed. in Physical Education from JSU in 1992 and an Ed.S. in
Physical Education from JSU in 2004.
Dana is currently the Assistant Girl's Basketball Coach at Spring Garden
after spending 10 years as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at JSU where she
was recognized as the Trans America Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. She
has also been recognized as a Young Alumnus of the Year at JSU.
She is married to Ricky Austin and has two sons, Riley (5) and Cooper (2).
Ricky and Dana are living their dream of promoting physical fitness and teaching
and coaching together at Spring Garden.
