Responsibilities of the Student in the Advisement Process
- Check office hours of advisor and call to make an advisement appointment.
- Advisors have many responsibilities and may not be in their office if you stop by
without an appointment.
- Leave a message on voice mail if advisor is not in when you call to make an appointment.
- Be on time for advisement appointment.
- Be prepared for your advisement appointment
- Remember that Pre-registration and Advisement periods are scheduled to best meet your
advisement needs. Classes may fill and the schedule you need may not be available.
- Remember that you are assigned an advisor in your program area. If you ask a faculty
member who is not in your program area to sign your trial schedule for registration, the result
could be that coursework may be taken in the wrong order and your graduation could be delayed.
- Follow your program guidelines to be cleared for registration.
- Please remember that the clearing of holds may take some time during especially busy registration periods. Various holds, such as library and financial, may need to be handled by the student.
