Dr. Phillips is a family scientist and an Assistant Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences.  Areas of teaching interest include courses related to child development, family functioning and family life, parent-child relationships, and research and statistical methods.  Areas of research emphasis currently include identity development in adolescence and early adulthood and family-of-origin influences on young adult romantic relationships. Dr. Phillips is a member of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Alabama Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
