Welcome to the Department of Educational Resources! You have probably noted that our department is unique in its diversity of programs. Our graduate programs include, Counselor Education, Educational Leadership, and Library Media. The Counselor Education and Educational Leadership programs include both the Masters and Educational Specialist degrees. We also provide foundations courses for the College of Education and Professional Studies. These areas include Educational Foundations, Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology.
The Department of Educational Resources includes the largest percentage of graduate students at JSU. We feel that this is due to the quality of our programs and particularly the quality of our professors. Our professors have many years of practical experience that enhances their teaching. Further, they are extremely active in scholarly and service activities and you will find their names in the professional literature and in leadership roles in professional organizations. Instruction, however, is our primary role and we feel that we offer quality instruction to classes that are small enough for us to get to know our students. We welcome you to come by and meet with us during our office hours to talk about your future profession.
We take great pride in the Department of Educational Resources and our role in the College of Education and Professional Studies. So, we welcome you to our department and wish you the best in your educational pursuits.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Friery, Ed.D.
