The department focuses on hands-on professional training and is
part of the College of Education and Professional Studies accordingly.
As an accredited comprehensive University, our focus is on teaching
and JSU is one of the best educational buys in Alabama. The department
itself is currently seeking additional ACEJMC accreditation,
to become one of 109 current
universities nation-wide with such distinction. We have recently
updated our computer lab facilities and
installed Smart board technology or the equivalent in each of the
classrooms in Self Hall
Graduates routinely
embark upon rewarding and prosperous careers such as advertising,
print journalism (newspapers
and magazines), public relations, radio and television (broadcast)
journalism, and web design or site maintenance.
