Department of Communication

In this television studio, one of two in the department, students produce news programming for TV 24, a low-power station viewed on local cable Channel 9. Students assume the positions of producer, assistant producer, director, technical director, camera operators, audio technician, VTR operator, character generator technician, and TelePrompTer © operator. Auditions are held for the anchor/host positions. See our recently renevated studio below.

The TV studio houses three cameras, a digital TelePrompTer © system, and has chromakey capability.

Titles are created for "JSU This Week" using the Inscriber computer system.

Students in the control room are ready for the action! Directing and switching the program all happen here.

Lloyd Dobyns, Ayers Chair of Broadcasting, instructs the hosts of "JSU This Week".
