Student
Media at JSU: Newspaper, Radio, and Yearbook
Students are encouraged to get pre-professional
experience in the department by becoming writers or photographers for
The Chanticleer student newspaper and the Mimosa yearbook. Students
may also work
on-the-air shifts
at the campus radio station, WLJS-FM. |
JSU's award-winning student newspaper, The
Chanticleer, offers students the opportunity to get hands-on
experience. Students serve as Editor in Chief, section editors,
photographers, and advertising staffers. Not only do staff members
get reporting and editing experience, but the paper's desktop
publishing system is a great way to prepare for a field that
is computer-dependent.
