Honor Societies

Kappa Delta Epsilon (Education Honor Society) - recognizes outstanding students preparing to enter the teaching profession as well as those actively and successfully engaged in teaching. As a profession al organization, its members engage in projects of service on campus and in the community. Eligibility for membership includes attaining and maintaining an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher, acceptance into the College of Education and Professional Studies, completion of a chapter project and participation in chapter meetings.

Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honor Society) - promotes  education by fostering a spirit of leadership, high standards of scholastic attainment, and professional ideals among its members. Students must be enrolled for twelve or more hours and must be an education major with a 3.5 overall GPA.

Professional and Departmental Clubs

Council for Exceptional Children  (CEC) - enhances opportunities for students with an interest in children with exceptionalities as well as a desire to serve handicapped individuals. Please read our current newsletter.

Jacksonville Association for the Education of Young Children - promotes services for young children. Open to majors in elementary or early childhood education.
Advisor: Dr. Elizabeth Engley, Curriculum and Instruction, 256-782-5844.

Student Alabama Education Association (SAEA) - leads education majors to a brighter professional future as they make the transition from the campus into the classroom.
Advisor: Mrs. Sandra Sudduth, Curriculum and Instruction, 256-782-5741.

Special Interest Groups

Student Organization for Deaf Awareness (SODA) - assists students in learning about deafness and informing the community about the issues related to deafness.
Advisor: Dee Johnston, Disabled Student Services, 256-782-5094.
