able to help students master concepts and skills that they viewed as being
beyond their grasp is endlessly rewarding. Nothing is nicer than knowing
that you've had a small role in helping many people to reach their dreams."

Teri Mates holds a BA and an MA in English from William Paterson University, in addition to some coursework in counseling. She has been teaching and tutoring for nineteen years, mostly at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, NJ. She also has worked in academic and business publishing. Currently, she serves as the Education Specialist for the Reading and Writing Labs at Passaic County Community College, supervising a staff of thirteen and working with a population encompassing developmental, college level, and ESL students. With regard to tutorial services, what was intended as "a quick employment stopover on the way to a more lucrative gig in publishing" has ended up becoming both a vocation and an avocation for Teri.
