The mission of the Department of
Secondary Education at Jacksonville State University is to prepare
professional educators to be knowledgeable, ethical, caring creative
decision makers as life long teachers and learners in a diverse society.
The program utilizes the integration of theory, research, and practice as
well as content and pedagogy in a curriculum that exhibits learner
performance-based outcomes.
The curricula in the Department of
Secondary Education reflect best practices as provided by research based
educational theory to develop professional knowledge, skills, and
dispositions. The curricula are designed to address National, State, and
Professional standards as well as International Technology Standards.
