DSS Terp Workshop January 18, 1999 DSS sponsored an interpreter workshop concerning the new licensure law. Charlene Crump from AIDB, and a member of the licensure board, came to JSU.  She provided information about the new law, which recently went into effect.   The law was enacted to ensure the quality of interpreting within the state, and to protect both Deaf and hearing consumers.  By March 15, 1999 all paid interpreters in Alabama must be licensed.
