Professional Development

As part of the implementation of the next phase of C-Print online training and as an effort to offer C-Print captionists an opportunity to develop as professionals, NTID will be scheduling several hour-long workshops starting in the fall.  Because we are aware of the constraints of both classroom schedules and budgets (organizational and personal), we realize that traveling to these workshops will often not be possible.  For that reason, these
workshops will be held online and participants will have an opportunity to interact with the presenter via audio (e.g., the phone).

More details about the workshops will be available this summer, but right now we would like your suggestions for workshop topics.  We have several ideas, but feel your input is especially important and would like to hear from you.  Some of the topics we’d like to cover include:  Processing skills development; Role of the Captionist; Working with the client; Computer networking basics; and Staying healthy on the job.

Please take some time to consider what topics you are interested in that would increase your effectiveness as a captionist.  Suggestions can be sent as a reply to this message or to the C-Print email account, cprint@rit.edu.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.
