Welcome to
Jacksonville State University's Drama Department.
The department is
dedicated to providing students with a strong liberal arts background in
addition to a strong overall theatre experience. Students are
giving the opportunity to write, direct, perform: design and build
sets, props, and costumes; design and execute lighting and sound
designs, and stage manage main stage and "Black Box" productions.
The department constantly strives
to stay on the cutting edge of technology by attending national
workshops on lighting, sound, stagecrafts, and
safety, as well as upgrading technology, equipment, and practices.
Students are encouraged to attend
regional and national theatre auditions such as Outdoor Drama and
Southeastern Theatre Conference auditions yearly. Designers and
Technicians are encouraged to participate in regional and national
portfolio reviews. Many students find summer work through these
auditions and portfolio reviews.
