Program Objective

Pre-license courses are offered to the general public to satisfy the educational requirements for licensure by the appropriate jurisdictions. The content coverage is guided by state licensure requirements and designed to provide quality educational preparation for licensed activities in the real estate brokerage business. The primary focus is on providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to protect the public in its dealings with real estate professionals. The course is designed to take a student with no background knowledge of the subject to a level of knowledge that is acceptable to operate in a professional manner in the industry. To meet these overall objectives, the course of study will provide (among others):

Course Description

This course teaches the fundamentals of real estate, such as contracts, property ownership and finance, as well as the state laws, rules and regulations governing the real estate industry in Alabama. Students must complete all lessons on the computer, plus written assignments, before taking a final exam for the course. Students have 180 days to complete this course. Successful completion of all computer lessons and a score of 70% or better on the final exam will qualify the student to sit for the State Licensing Exam. The final exam is given at Jacksonville State University's Office of Continuing Education, Monday - Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Course delivery is certified by the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) and is approved by the Alabama Real Estate Commission.
