Have you been to a job interview lately? If so, one of the questions asked is, "Do you have computer skills?" Upon completion of this program, you can answer "yes," and present your Computer Software Certificate to the prospective employer.
The certificate from the Jacksonville State University Office of Continuing Education confirms that you have taken 100 hours of computer software application training including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing. Sixty hours will be in the following core courses:
The final forty hours can be obtained from any additional computer courses. A maximum of 12 hours of on-line computer courses can apply toward the 100 hours. At the completion of the program, you will have to produce a document from each of the four application areas: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing. Course work must be completed within two years from the date of your registration in the certificate program.
In the event you have already taken some of the courses, there is a possibility that those courses, if they are within the last year, can be applied toward the 100 hours.
Call (256) 782-5918 for approval if you feel you would like to substitute more advanced courses.
