Assignments - IME 380 - Marathon S 2009

August 21, 2009

  • I'll process P8 after submissions are in.
  • I will be traveling Friday and will have limited and spradic access Saturday and Sunday, but we should be able to complete two or three perriods. We'll try anyway. If I see decisions are submitted, I'll process them.
  • Monday -
    • Final Lecture( < 30 mins).
    • Finish the simulation. Each team will present in class. We will review each period, examine budgets, time, decisions, team impacts. What did you do correctly? Where did you make mistakes? What would you have done differently? If we were starting today, what strategy (if any) would you employ? Could comprehensive planning have improved your performance? How?

August 20, 2009

  • I'll process Period 6 at 8:00pm Wednesday night or before if everyone has submitted.
  • Shortly after processing, I will restart the simulation in the PRE-PLAY MODE.
  • Everyone will select resources again and submit them.
  • When everyone has a team... I'll restart play... but in any event I will restart by 9:30 AM Thursday MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERY ONE YOU NEED BY THEN. YOU WILL BE GRADED ON THE RESULTS YOU ACHIEVE IN THIS SIMULATION.
  • I will plan to process every 2 hours on Thursday. That should give every team time to make decisions, BUT IF YOU NEED MORE TIME, SEND ME A SKYPE MESSAGE. I will check before I process, but please don't hold up the entire group. We've had enough of that for a short term.
  • Any team finishing ahead of Dallas in the FINAL STANDINGS is exempted from the Final Exam. That shoul give every team the incentive to:
      1. Think
      2. Make sound decisions
      3. Review the Player Manual
  • I will review and evaluate your decisions as well as your period results. The simulation allows me to look very closely at each team.
  • Questions? I'll be available on Skype frequently during the day on Thursday.
  • I will be largely unavailable between Friday noon and Sunday evening, when I return to Atlanta.

August 19, 2009

  • Today we will continue the practice round until we have completed Period 5. At that time I will restart the simulation and you will be in the preplay mode again. When everyone has their teams populated we will begin final simulation and carry it to conclusion.
  • I will check the simulation on an hourly basis. If every has submitted their decisions, I will process them and you can see the results, make corrections and submit your decisions for the next period. As always, ask questions on Skype. I will be out in the morning but online most of the afternoon and well into the evening.

August 18, 2009

  • We are now in PLAY mode. I will process the first period between 6:00p and 7:00p CT or whenever all teams have submitted thier decisions.. whichever comes first. After that I'll check for decision submissions every 2 hours and if all decisions are not in after 4 hours - I'll process anyway - Up until 10:00pm CT.. then I'll do the same routine beginning at 9am CT
  • have encountered a problem with the Simulation. Beginning at 10:00 AM I'll need everyone to re-select resources and RE-SUBMIT them. Make sure you click on the submit button. I'll be live on Skype most of the day for questions.
  • I will process resources again at Noon.
