This page lists the currently available accounting scholarships along with criteria for selection and a link to an application form. The applications should be returned no later than the due date shown on the individual application forms. Please read the criteria carefully to ensure that you are eligible for the scholarship before you apply. For each scholarship for which you feel you wish to apply, please use the link to print out the form and fill it out. Return the applications to Mrs. Pope in room 214 Merrill Building. All scholarships require that the recipient be enrolled at JSU for a sufficient number of hours during the award period to make use of the scholarship.
The requirements for these two scholarships are as follows:
> Have completed Financial/Intermediate Accounting I & II courses prior to
January of current academic year.
> Have "B" average in all accounting courses
> Have "B" average overall
> Have at least one full year left in school (fourth or fifth year)
> Have declared a major in accounting
> Enrolled with 6 hours per semester/12 hours per year
> Must be a United States citizen
> Minimum GPA of 3.0 in Accounting
> Signature of a faculty sponsor on the application form
Some other considerations include:
> Overall GPA
> Home residence in Northeast Alabama
> Leaderships positions held
> Honors received
> Campus involvement
> Financial need
> Prefer candidates with strong interest in a career in Alabama public accounting
> Available to both undergraduate and graduate students
The filing of a single application form is used for consideration of both
of these scholarships. Evaluation is performed by a committee from the
Alabama Society of CPAs.

This scholarship is awarded to either undergraduate or graduate accounting students by Charles B. Freeman, II. It places a high degree of consideration on the recipient's ability to communicate through a written essay.Link to application for Freeman Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded by the accounting firm of Pearce, Bevill, Leesburg & Moore, P.C. The requirements for the scholarship include: > Junior rank only (prior to January of current academic year) > Minimum GPA of 3.0 in accounting > Minimum GPA of 3.0 in courses completed at JSU > Completion of Financial Accounting I (Acc 310) prior to January of current academic year Some other considerations include: > Good citizenship > Strength of character > Potential to enhance the profession > Participation in student activities > Initiative and industriousness Evaluation is performed by members of the accounting firm.Link to application for Pearce, Bevill, Leesburg & Moore Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in honor of a former JSU accounting professor. It
makes use of a point system for determining the recipient. Points are awarded
on the basis of criteria in the following areas:
I. Scholarship
A. Class standing (Junior, Senior)
B. Quality point average in accounting
C. Quality point average for all subjects
II. Service
A. Student Accounting Association activities
B. Membership in accounting organizations
C. Membership in JSU organizations
III. Integrity
