The
Faculty Council of the College of Arts and Sciences, consisting of
elected
representatives of each department of the College, advises the Dean of
faculty concerns. The Council considers these concerns, notifies the
Dean
of them, and recommends how they might be addressed.
The
Council has three standing committees which deal with areas of
importance
to Arts and Sciences faculty: Curriculum Committee, Committee on Grants
and Awards, and Personnel/Merit Pay Committee. The Curriculum Committee
is charged with evaluation of curricular proposals within the College;
the Grants and Award Committee seeks nominations/applications for CAS
Teaching,
Research, and Service Awards, plus Faculty Development Grants; and the
Personnel/Merit Pay Committee reviews faculty applications for College
Level Merit, making recommendations to the Dean.
The
Council meets each term, with additional meetings as called by the Dean
or the Chair of the Council. Meetings of the Council are open to the
College
of Arts and Sciences faculty, and minutes are available to interested
faculty.
