The 2005 meeting of the Southeast Regional Chapter of SETAC will be held Thursday (workshops) through Saturday, February 3 - 5, 2005 at Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Dauphin Island, Alabama in the Galathea Hall Center. (Directions:  http://www.disl.org/location.html)

This conference is a forum for scientists throughout Al, Fl and GA with an interest in the environmental sciences and environmental quality.  This meeting is especially recommended for student presenters who will get a good opportunity to present their work and to network with our other members in academia, government, and industry.    Please encourage your students and interested colleagues to attend!

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS: We are accepting abstracts for both presentations and posters.  The deadline for the abstracts is Friday, January 7, 2005.  Abstracts must be e-mailed by this date!!   The abstract instructions can be read or downloaded here.

WORKSHOPS: Workshops will be held Thursday, Feb 3.  Fees for the workshops are additional and listed in the registration form.  

 The
Estuarine Ecology workshop on Thursday at 1 PM is a two hour trip on the Dauphin Island research vessel, the Verill, and will include specimen collection and discussions of the local marine ecology.  Due to water safety restrictions, the attendance for this workshop is limited to a maximum of 40 people.

FOOD AND LODGING: Conference participants are strongly advised to sign up for the meal plan and on-site dorm housing.   Local motel options are limited and are substantially more expensive, and off-site meal options are limited as February is the off season at Dauphin Island.    Details on off-site housing are provided at: http://dauphinisland.cc/
