JSU:
THE ENGLISH
COMPETENCY EXAM
Administered
by
THE
DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
REQUIREMENTS
Students who have completed English 101 and English 102 and a total of 60 hours
are eligible. A wise student will not postpone taking the examination, since
waiting until late in one's college career to take the examination may delay
graduation. Students must take and pass the exam NO LATER than the
semester BEFORE they plan to apply for graduation.
Eligible students must register online
between January 30 and February 20, 2008
(Absolutely no late registration!)
Instructions on how to
register for the ECE
Go to my.jsu.edu
Click on Self Service Banner
at Main Menu, select Student & Financial Aid
Choose Registration, and then Add or Drop Classes
Select a Term: ECE Spring
2008
Click on Class Search, and choose English/All.
The English Competency Exam will be the only class available for registration
at this time of the semester. The course number is 001. You will be given an
option of registering for a Tuesday 6:00 p.m. class, or a Wednesday 3:00 p.m.
class. The room number to which you will be assigned in Stone Center can also
be viewed here.
Add the class on the day you choose to take the exam. Then select
"Register" at the bottom of the page. If for some reason you register
for the wrong date or decide later that you want to change the exam date, you
can go back in and drop that date and add the other date. ALL CHANGES MUST BE
MADE DURING THE REGISTRATION PERIOD. Once the registration period ends, there
can be no changes, nor late registration. The rosters are finalized at the end
of registration.
At the completion of the grading of the ECE, you can find your grade listed in
your Student Academic Transcript in your my.jsu.edu account. Distance
Learning students should register by contacting the Director of the ECE, Susan
Sellers, at ssellers@jsu.edu
once they have verified their eligibility with their Distance Learning advisor.
(To be eligible for the Distance Learning ECE through Blackboard, the student
must take one hundred percent of his or her classes on-line.)
